ACS 6th Grader, Dhavina Kholwadwala is encouraging ACS students to help make a positive impact in the world by giving local seniors some Christmas Cheer. Over the summer, Dhavina became a Youth Ambassador for the New Mexico Aging and Long Term Services Department. They started the “Create and Connect” campaign, and their goal was to get kids from around New Mexico to write faithful letters to seniors in nursing homes and assisted living centers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
ACS students are making/ writing cards for these local senior citizens. This includes a simple note with stickers or decorations, drawings, etc. Students are encouraged to get as creative as they like. Buying Christmas cards from the store and writing a message is another option. Dhavina encouraged students to "make it happy and wonderful!"
There are many seniors in need, and the more collected, the better! Students are welcome to do mulitple cards if possible. Dhavina decorated a drop box to be placed in front of the school where students can place their cards, and she will pick them up from there. The deadline for getting cards in is Wednesday, December 16, 2020.
